When dealing with adolescent drug or alcohol abuse, sometimes the intervention can be made at a much earlier stage of the problem and stop the need for a full blown intervention when the problem gets bigger. Casual drug use can quickly turn into drug abuse, dependence or addiction and can lead to accidents, legal trouble and serious health issues and an early intervention before these things happen is a better time than afterwards.

If you are truly concerned about your child and have a bad feeling that the signs you're seeing are early warnings of drug or alcohol use and abuse you should do a drug intervention. Always remain calm, and share your concerns, and then listen. Listen carefully for amazing stories and circumstances that cover up or discourage your concerns, try having productive conversations with your child about unrelated matters to see how much of their normal activities and social world has changed. Many of the signs can only be distinguished by a parent, a caring loving parent. Start to closely monitoring your child's behavior and activities after you've had an initial talk and if you feel troubled or uncertain about your results, seek a professionals opinion. If you need to find a Tennessee drug and alcohol rehab than we can help.

Drug Detox and Alcohol Treatment: It’s not just for Everyone

With all the hype that drug detox and alcohol treatment is getting in different parts of United States, most of the families of the drug abusers and alcoholics and even the users of the illegal substances themselves are wondering if drug detox can really help them overcome their addiction. Even though that this method is essential in order to get rid of the toxins left by the drugs and alcohol in their body, it is just sad to say that drug detox and alcohol treatment is not just recommended for everyone.

Drug detox should be done while the patient is inside a supervised facility. Not only is the detox for drug addiction important but also the treatment for alcohol addiction as well. This means that it is not advisable to do a drug detox program on your own even though you have your family to assist you during the process. There are just so many harmful effects of detoxifying yourself at the comfort of your own home particularly the various withdrawal symptoms. Alcohol treatment will include counseling and life skills therapy to find reasons for the alcohol abuse.

Therapies and medications are essential when doing a drug detox. There might be times that the patient would be allergic to the medications given by the health care experts. As a result, their current health status might get worse. Some reports even confirmed that there were patients who died while going through a drug detox program.

Therefore, it is very important that you check first all the pros and cons of drug detox. Only do it with a professional and while inside a control facility as well.

Oxycontin Detox and Long Term Rehab

What is the most effective type of drug detox and rehab program for Oxycontin addiction and where would I find one? But if you are addicted to heroin or other opiates, you may want to try doing the methadone rehab rather than choosing the typical ways of cleansing drugs from your body.

For several years, methadone addiction rehab has been proven safe and very effective. However, it can be quite difficult if you want to try this alone. It is very essential that you ask first a doctor specializing in drug addiction or clinics that are meant to treat drug abusers alone. Unlike other options, methadone detox can be quite expensive for some. Therefore, if you think you do not have enough budget to pay for this, you can always ask charities to help you financially.

And like any other techniques that would require the person to discontinue the use of the heroine, methadone detox also have other effects during the process. I struggled heavily to not be dependent any longer--no easy fight. Now in my 50s I have more problems physically than I can count on two hands because the drugs ravished my body so intensely. Mentally things are foggy, and remembering my own phone number is hard. What did I use? Probably acid and a ton of real heavy drugs, right? Wrong. Marijuana and some occasional cocaine. Just because it's green doesn't mean it is harmless. If I had found a website like this 20 years ago, my life would have been different. I thank you for your informative site and I know it will help others who struggle like I did.

Not only was able to find an effective addiction treatment center online, but once I graduated the program I then went back to school and became a counselor who specializes in addiction. Now, I am drug free and have a purpose in life which is helping other people overcome drug and alcohol addiction. If you or a loved needs to find a drug rehab center, i would recommend a long term facility.

What Is Drug Treatment?

Drug and alcohol treatment centers nationwide are expanding because of the epidemic to prescription drugs. Pharmaceutical companies and psychiatrists are pushing drugs to people like heroin and crack dealers do on the street. Except prescription drugs are far more addictive and dangerous. Prescription and psychiatric drugs cause treatment centers to charge more because of medical detox. Some of these extremely dangerous prescription drugs have fatal withdrawal symptoms, which must incorporate a medical program which tapers a person off. This type of drug treatment is critical because of the medical element of the detox.

Once a treatment program has addressed the detox than it begins to address the underlying issues of why a person turned to these drugs in the first place. Usually depression, anxiety, sleep loss, and physical pain are the common issues, which cause a person to take prescription drugs.

If you find yourself not being able to stop from taking prescription drugs than maybe treatment is necessary. Remember finding the right drug treatment is important. Several of the addiction treatment centers only deal with certain parts of addiction, which is why you want to find a comprehensive rehab program. Treatment varies from center to center. Ask questions when you are researching different drug rehab facilities. The most important thing is to find a drug treatment center that will work for you.

Help With Drug Rehab?

Are you trying to find an effective drug rehab that will help you or a loved one overcome an addiction to drugs and alcohol? Our counselors can help you with this and know about great programs nationwide that specialize in long term care. When deciding on a program do not go for an outpatient program because that keeps the addicted individual close to home which creates a more likely situation for relapse.

Residential rehabs are always a good idea because they provide the best chance for person to successfully recover. Also holistic programs are also a good idea because they provide a drug free setting and use natural remedies to handle health issues caused from drug and alcohol abuse. Also several drug rehabs also offer a medical detox, which is good for people who are coming off of heroin, alcohol and most prescription drugs.

Remember, when looking for a drug rehab center, do your research. If you can, tour some of the facilities you like the sound of because sometimes the pictures on the Internet are not exactly what it looks like in person. Stay away from state or government run rehabs because usually these are places that only shovel drugs down a person’s throat. It’s an easy way to keep a person quiet and state or government run programs the employees don’t want to work. Private rehabs are always the best but make sure they offer a good program and it’s not just a vacation.

Hopefully this helps when finding a drug rehab program.

California Drug Rehab Centers

In California, there are many drug rehab centers to choose from. I went through two years of ups and downs, where I would think that I could crack my addictions myself. I was doing cocaine and ecstasy and it was becoming more and more frequent that I was using the drugs. I began to notice that the hangover from these drugs were lasting longerand longer and the only way to alleviate the pain I was suffering was to use more and more of the drugs. Eventually I didn’t have the meansto support myself and after I went through friends and family members as a way of supporting my drug habit, that ultimately ended as well.

I had no way to get the drugs. The only choice I was left with was which drug rehabilitation program was going to be right to cure my drug addiction. I found a professional case worker that worked with me one on one to come to adecision that has helped me on so many levels. To this day we remain friends and he is always calling me to check up and see how I amdoing. These California drug rehab programs will give you the tools that you will need when you get that urge to use again. It is haunted by the ghosts of the highly influential artists that were respected for their leading standards in music and the world. These people made changes, paved new roads, pointed in new directions and furthered the ideas of music for everyone. But new, powerful ideas and an early death at age 27 aren’t the only things these musicians have in common. Each of them was on hard drugs and/or prescription drugs and died because of them.

Jim Morrison of The Doors – died of a heroin overdose after drinking heavily, Janis Joplin – heroin overdose, Jimi Hendrix – had a large drug history as it was and ended up suffocating in his own vomit after taking 9 strong sleeping pills, Kurt Cobain – vast amounts of street drugs and Ritalin since age 13, and just recently, Jeremy Michael Ward of The Mars Volta – heroin overdose. These profound musicians along with many, many others make up the list of deaths at the young age of 27. They all had a record of drug use or abuse and ended their lives through the hands of the drugs. Maybe a drug rehab in California would have helped.

Death of a body is inevitable, but drug abuse only hastens it. It should be seen by the examples set by these profound artists that it only led to their demise. And their lives weren’t glamorous rock star lives. They were living penny to penny to pay for the drugs (prescription or not) and/or alcohol they were addicted to and they weren’t truly happy at all! If this sounds like you or someone you know, there’s no better time to start on a road toward survival than right NOW. There are long term drug rehab programs that use holistic means to get you back on your feet, happy and really living life! Don’t waste any more of your happiness on an artificial "high". Get yourself or that person real, life-saving help from a drug rehab program that works!

Drug Rehab Saved My Family

I thought I was about to give up on my husband. He had been suffering from alcohol addiction for the better part of the last eight years. Three different jobs, the late nights I sat up wondering where he was, only to get a call from the police department explaining that he had just sped through a sobriety check point and was in their custody.I could not give up on the father of my children.

I began searching for a California drug rehab. We had tried the traditional 12 step programs, but they didn’t seem to be working. There were several inpatient drug rehabs that I felt very comfortable with before ultimately deciding on one. A professional representative worked with us to find a non 12 step rehab that would be the best fit for my husband. Why is a longer termed program so important and does it have to be private or will my insurance pay for it.

Unfortunately people with medicaid and medicare are not going to have the best treatment options because they usually do not pay for any effective long term rehabs. Drug rehabilitation that does offer a long term program usually offers detox, some type of biophysical cellular cleanse, cognitive counseling, and life skills therapy. These are all important factors for a successful recovery.

Most people who have attempted rehab have tried a 12 step program and most of those addicted individuals have failed. That is the reason we have seen such a big movement for alternative types of programs like non 12 step rehabs. A non 12 step drug rehab also offers long term rehabilitation with aftercare which is the perfect combination for rehab.

Non 12 Step Rehab Programs

Are you trying to find some type of alternative solution to a traditional type of drug rehab program? Have you tried drug rehabilitation and felt like those meetings were not helping at all? Did sometimes after you went to those meetings you felt like you needed a drink or had the urge to get high? Well if this is happening to you, you need to find a non 12 step rehab to overcome your addiction problem. A non 12 step drug rehab will teach an addicted individual that you don’t have an incurable disease and that you can overcome your problem and not have to live with it for the rest of your life.

Not to mention that a non 12 step program also has a higher success rate than most traditional type of programs. The reason for this is they offer holistic based programs that do not rely on giving more drugs to a person who already is addicted to drugs and alcohol. Usually replacement drug programs only make the problem worse because the patient seeking help ends up leaving the rehab program with a bigger problem and more prescribed drugs than what they started with.

The other good thing is that most of the non 12 step rehabs are longer termed and offer life skills counseling to help the individual once they leave the rehab program. So when somebody asks what is the best type of drug rehab program remember that an alternative based non 12 step facility is always the most effective.

What Type Of Drug Rehab Is Most Effective?

When people are researching what type of treatment program to attend or trying to figure out what will be the best type of drug rehab program for a loved one, the question is “How do I know?” Should it be outpatient or inpatient, long term or short term, 12 step or non 12 step, holistic or prescribe drugs? With all of the information on the internet it can become very overwhelming because everything sounds good and every program says there facility is the best.

The first question is should it be outpatient or an inpatient drug rehab. Well this should not be hard to figure out considering changing a person’s environment is one of the first effective forms of treatment so obviously finding a good inpatient center is vital. Then looking at longer termed programs versus short term 30 day programs, based on our research the longer the program the higher the success rate is. The winner here is a long term drug rehab. One of the harder questions is a 12 step program compared to non 12 step program. This really is a matter of choice. The 12 step program believes drug and alcohol addiction is a disease where the non 12 step program believes it’s a choice.

Overall if we were to recommend a program it would be inpatient, long term, non 12 step, and holistic based. Some of these types of treatment programs even offer guarantees. Finding a program that offers a guarantee can be nice and at least help the family feel comfortable with investing money in a good program.

Helping A Loved By Intervention

Sometimes people do not always want to go into a drug rehab program. A lot of addicted individuals do not realize they have a problem with drugs or alcohol even though it is ripping there families and friends apart. Sitting back and watching a loved one ruin their life from abusing drugs and alcohol can cause for long nights wondering what you are going to do. Many families never do anything and wait until it’s too late before acting and getting their loved on into a drug rehab.

A person who is addicted to drugs and alcohol are not aware of the pain and suffering that is going on around them. They only think that they are hurting themselves and don’t see the problems that are really occurring within the family. Parents staying up all night waiting for the phone to ring, or their heart dropping when an ambulance drives by. All of these things are common emotions that parents experience when they have a son or daughter who are ruining their lives from drugs and alcohol.

Remember that not doing anything is the worst thing you can do to a person who has a drug or alcohol problem. The only thing that can happen to an addicted individual is jail, death or rehab. One of those is obviously the optimum solution which is going into a drug rehab. Confronting your loved one on going to rehab is called an intervention and its usually done when a person is not ready to get help. Make sure the person is escorted immediately to a drug rehab center as soon as the addicted individual says “yes, I will go.”

Drug Rehab Programs

It has been a really long time since I have posted anything on this blog. As a matter of fact I was just going through some old files and found this blog and thought to myself I need to start posting more here. Since I last posted a lot has changed. I still continue to deliver drug education but also have expanded my resources to drug and alcohol interventions and also helping people find drug rehab programs.

An effective type of drug rehab is not always easy to find. Most of the programs out there consist of traditional type of treatment modality. Generally this is a typical 12 step program which offers some type of replacement drug, group meetings, and maybe some counseling. Unfortunately this is not the most successful type of rehab program.
A long term drug rehab has found to be the most effective type of drug rehab program available.

Many of the longer termed programs offer detox, counseling and life skills therapy. Another very effective type of drug rehab is something called biophysical drug rehab. This is a holistic based program which removes the drug metabolites out of the tissues which eliminates cravings for drugs or alcohol. Remember an inpatient drug rehab and non 12 step programs have a higher success rate.

Making Progress

I'm back at Narconon Hawaii and have been delivering more drug education in Honolulu and we have thousands of kids booked here and on other islands now that schools are back in session for the fall semester.

While still in its infant stage, the Narconon Program is going to continue to grow and set up a full hawaii drug rehab in addition to our drug prevention work here.

Stay tuned! This is my hometown and after reaching over 150,000 people in live presentations I figured it's about time to hit DC.

Thanks,

JT Daily

Narconon Arrowhead Receives Certification from the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services

State officials recognize and welcome successful drug-free rehabilitation approach

CANADIAN, Okla. - The Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse (ODMHSAS) awarded full certification to Narconon of Oklahoma, Inc. (dba) Narconon Arrowhead’s drug free withdrawal program after department inspectors verified the center was in 100% compliance with the criteria required by the state for non-medical detoxification.

The Department’s recommendation for full certification was sanctioned by a unanimous vote by the Oklahoma Board of Mental Health at their monthly meeting held at Department headquarters in Oklahoma City on the 11th of March. Full certification is valid for three years, which is the most allowed under the Department’s regulations.

Narconon Arrowhead CEO, Gary W. Smith said, “My center’s goal has always been to meet or exceed state and federal treatment standards because the individuals that we help are the ones that benefit from a higher quality care in the end. I think it’s a new era for the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services and treatment providers in the state. We have known for some time that substance abuse is one of the key factors that are driving up prison and health care costs and more treatment services are needed, not less. State regulations seem to be moving more towards inclusion of alternative types of effective rehabilitation methods and programs rather then being exclusive to what has been considered traditional treatment methods.”

In addition to ODMHSAS certification Narconon’s drug and alcohol rehabilitation program is accredited by the nationally recognized and prestigious Rehabilitation Accreditation Commission (CARF) since the center was first licensed in Oklahoma in 1991. The organization has helped thousands of people recover from drug addiction since that time and has helped prevent drug use through education to hundreds of thousands across the country through the application of American author and humanitarian L. Ron Hubbard’s effective drug-free rehabilitation methodology.

Adds Smith, “I am impressed with the cooperative spirit that exists today with the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse and treatment providers in the state of Oklahoma. I know this is due, in now small part, to the Department leadership and support in making more treatment services available by the Governor’s office.”

Narconon Arrowhead is one of the largest private residential treatment centers in the United States. The center services between 200 and 230 people in need at a time and program participants range from 18 to over 60 years of age and come from all walks of life all over the country as well as overseas. It is also the main training center for Narconon’s international network of drug rehabilitation and education programs that now reaches 40 countries.

Cross-Country Demand Reduction

Whew! In that time I have reached almost 200,000 teenagers and kids throughtout the country in places like Compton, the Bronx, Washington D.C., Hawaii and even a small town called Canadian, out in the middle of knowhere in Oklahoma that has a total population of about 500. What I have observed is that drug addiction does not discriminate, it affects every type of person throughout the world. Not only does it affect our schools and young people but the devastation it has on our workplace is just as destructive. That is why I am starting the Narconon Drug-Free Workplace.

I have already started working with EAP's (Employement Assistance Program) in Oklahoma like Halliburton Oil Company and will be delivering the first Narconon Drug-Free Workplace Seminar next month to the leading EAP's in Oklahoma. 77% of drug addict's are all employeed so if we want to truely make a difference and educate people we have to get into the workplace. Turning our head the other way when a friend or a co-worker is crying out for help by not showing up for work, lying, and or stealing is just as bad as using drug's.

With more truthful information about drugs the better decisions we can make, which will then make for a better place to live in.

Thanks,

JT Daily

Conference on Drug Rehabilitation and Education

For the last couple days I've been attending our state conference on drug rehabilitation and education. There are well over 1,000 attendees again this year and many coalitions from around the country are turning to Narconon Arrowhead for help when it comes to effective drug rehabiliation and drug education.

I'll finish up here and then head back to Oklahoma to get out and deliver some prevention presentations to students since school is now back in session after the holidays.

"ADHD" led to addiction

As a young teenager and struggling with school my English teacher called my parents and told them I might have something called ADHD. My parents did some research and found the best therapist in Washington DC that specialized in discovering and then treating this "disorder." Seven years later if I knew then what I knew now I would have never taken that fist pill of medication known as Dexedrine that was to "treat" my disorder. I now know the pill that was prescribed by my therapist and physician was just as addicting and had the same affects as cocaine and methamphetamine. What's sad is that two years after I fist took Dexedrine I was using about $200-$300 dollars worth of cocaine a day. Rather tragic story, but ever so common.

Since being addicted to drugs for about 8 years of my young adult life I was able to turn myself around with lots of support from my wonderful family and a place called Narconon Arrowhead. Since graduating the Narconon program over 3 years ago I am trying to get the word out about these drugs that are being prescribed to kids and now adults.

Too often schools think the problem with drugs are only illegal substances and have not looked at how many kids are on some type of anti-depressant or other drug that is to treat some type of mental disorder. I notice this more with schools in nice suburban areas; this mentality of what shrink you are seeing and what medication he has the family on is not only disgusting but a way to make the problem worse. Drugs are not the solution!

Coast to coast - and then some

I deliver drug education and prevention programs for kids and adults for Narconon Arrowhead.
